Which market intelligence platforms offer monthly pricing?
Few do. PitchBook, CB Insights, Capital IQ and Bloomberg sell annual or multi-year contracts by quote. The tools with a published monthly price are smaller: Crunchbase Pro at $99 billed monthly (Crunchbase support), Koyfin from $49 a month (CostBench) and a handful of newer platforms, as of 2026.
Why do most research platforms only sell annual contracts?
The large platforms sell to firms rather than individuals and price by seat and module, so they quote annual terms and negotiate discounts for longer ones. A monthly plan would let a buyer subscribe for a single deal and leave. UK public procurement records for a PitchBook subscription, for example, show annual payment invoiced after the contract starts (UK Contracts Finder).
Does PitchBook offer a monthly plan?
No public monthly plan exists. PitchBook prices by quote, and 2026 buyer guides report $12,000 to $70,000 a year (VC Beast). Some pricing sites show PitchBook "per month" figures, such as CostBench, but those match its annual per-user estimates divided by 12, not a plan you can cancel after a month. Our guide on PitchBook's cost and alternatives has the detail.
The same holds for the other large platforms. The Bloomberg Terminal costs about $24,000 to $32,000 a seat a year, usually on a 2-year contract (PageCrawl). Capital IQ is quote-based, with 2026 estimates of $12,000 to $30,000 a user a year (CostBench). AlphaSense's average small-business contract was reported at $44,754 a year in February 2026 (SpendHound).
Which platforms publish a monthly price?
The table lists tools with a published or widely reported monthly price next to the annual incumbents. Check whether "monthly" means billed monthly or an annual plan quoted per month; several vendors show the second.
| Tool | Reported or published price | Best for | Main gap | Source |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Crunchbase Pro | $99 a month billed monthly; discounted annual plan | Startup funding data and alerts | 2,000-row monthly export cap; thin fund data | Crunchbase support |
| Koyfin | Free tier; paid from $49 a month | Public equity charts and fundamentals | Little private-company data | CostBench |
| VCBacked | $79 a month or $299 a year | Lists of venture-backed startups | Vendor-written pricing; narrow scope | VCBacked |
| Multiples | From $239 a month on annual billing | Valuation multiples and comps | Annual billing for the quoted rate | Multiples |
| PitchBook | $12,000 to $70,000 a year, quote-based | VC, PE and M&A data | No monthly option | VC Beast |
| Tamarly Intelligence | Free for 7 days, then $399 a month on Level 3 | Sourced reads on private companies, funds and sectors | No fund performance benchmarks or LP data | Tamarly |
Prices above are reported by third parties, several of which sell competing tools. Check current terms with each vendor.
What do you give up with a monthly plan?
Monthly tools are narrower. Crunchbase covers funding rounds well but has thin contact and fund data, and G2 reviewers mention missing information 17 times and outdated information 15 times (G2). Koyfin is built around listed companies. None of the monthly tools in the table offers PitchBook's fund benchmarks or LP commitments.
Price also changes faster on self-serve plans. A pricing tracker recorded Crunchbase raising its Pro annual rate from $49 to $79 a month in 2025 (PricingSaaS). Read the renewal terms, not only the first-year price.
How do you pick a monthly research tool?
Start from the question you answer most often. If it is "who raised money this week", a funding database with alerts fits. If it is "what does this filing say", primary sources fit, and our guide on how to read a Form D filing shows where to start. If it is "how does this listed company compare", a public equity tool fits.
Then run the trial on 10 companies you already know. Count how many profiles are complete, how many figures you can trace to a source and how long each answer takes. A monthly plan only saves money if it answers your questions without a second tool.
When should you keep an annual platform?
Keep PitchBook, Capital IQ, FactSet or Bloomberg if several people use them every day for jobs the monthly tools cannot do: fund benchmarks, LP data, live prices, Excel comps across thousands of listed companies or expert-call transcripts. At that level of use the annual price per hour of work is often lower than it looks, and the switching cost of rebuilt models and workflows is real.
A monthly tool makes sense for a new fund, a solo analyst, a consultant on a single engagement or a team that needs private-company research a few times a week.
Where does Tamarly Intelligence fit?
Tamarly Intelligence is Tamarly's research platform on companies, funds, countries and markets, built from official filings and open data. Its plans are priced by the month: Free at $0, Level 1 at $15, Level 2 at $145 and Level 3 at $399. Every figure links to the filing or record it came from, and when Tamarly does not cover a company it says so. Sources are free and open, including SEC EDGAR, European ESEF filings, GLEIF and UK Companies House.
Tamarly does not offer market prices, fund performance benchmarks, LP commitment data, an Excel data feed, expert-call transcripts or investor names on private rounds. It does offer 19,910 company pages, 2,888 funds, a Risk Atlas that scores 214 of 218 countries every week and workflows for 8 professions. The 7-day trial gives full Level 3 access and needs no card.

Frequently asked questions
Can you get PitchBook for one month?
No public monthly plan exists. PitchBook sells by quote, and 2026 buyer guides report annual costs of $12,000 to $70,000 (VC Beast). Some university libraries offer PitchBook access to members for academic use, often with download limits (NYU Libraries).
What is the cheapest market intelligence tool with monthly billing?
Among the tools in this guide, Koyfin has a free tier and paid plans from $49 a month (CostBench), and Crunchbase Pro costs $99 billed monthly (Crunchbase support). Koyfin focuses on listed companies, Crunchbase on startups.
Is a monthly plan cheaper than an annual one?
Per month, usually not. Crunchbase discounts its annual Pro plan by 38% for new users in the first year compared with monthly billing (Crunchbase support). Monthly billing costs more per month but lets you stop when the project ends.
