How much does CB Insights cost in 2026?
CB Insights does not publish a price list. A pricing aggregator put its 4 plans between about $29,800 and $100,000 a year in March 2026 (CostBench), and a 2026 review estimates an average subscription near $60,000 a year (ZoomInfo). Expect a 5-figure annual contract.
Why doesn't CB Insights publish its prices?
CB Insights sells through demos and quotes. An independent comparison site notes that it has no official list pricing and no self-serve tiers (Multiples). The final number depends on the plan, the number of seats, the contract length and which datasets you add. That puts it in the same buying model as PitchBook, covered in our guide on PitchBook's cost and alternatives.
What are the CB Insights plans?
CostBench lists 4 tiers: Essential, Advanced, Enterprise and Data Solutions for API and feeds. Its March 2026 estimates are about $29,796 a year for Essential, $60,000 for Advanced and $99,996 for Enterprise, with Data Solutions priced on request (CostBench). The same source estimates $60,000 to $85,000 a year for a 5-person innovation team and $7,000 to $12,000 a year for each extra seat.
Other estimates land in the same range. One 2026 alternatives page puts CB Insights at about $60,000 a year to start (VCBacked). Treat every figure as a starting point for negotiation; none comes from CB Insights.
| Tool | Reported or published price | Best for | Main gap | Source |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| CB Insights | About $29,800 to $100,000 a year, quote-based | Technology trends, market maps, corporate strategy | Price for small teams; thinner small-company coverage | CostBench |
| PitchBook | $12,000 to $70,000 a year, quote-based | VC, PE and M&A deal and fund data | Price; stale small-company data | VC Beast |
| Crunchbase Pro | About $588 a year | High-level company and funding data | Little fund-level data | VCBacked |
| Tracxn | About $1,500 a year | Sector-based startup sourcing | Less fund data | VCBacked |
| Tamarly Intelligence | Free for 7 days, then $399 a month on Level 3 | Sourced reads on private companies, funds and sectors | No expert-call transcripts or Excel feed | Tamarly |

Which CB Insights features cost extra?
The features buyers ask about most sit in the higher tiers. A 2026 review of the platform reports that features such as the Market Map Maker, Mosaic scores, expert collections and proprietary datasets are typically gated behind upper plans (ZoomInfo). CostBench adds that API access is included only at Enterprise level (CostBench).
Ask the sales team in writing which of these sit in the plan you are quoted. A plan that leaves out Mosaic scores or API access can look cheap and then grow at renewal.
What do CB Insights users say?
The public review base is small. G2 shows 4.4 out of 5 from 16 reviews, with praise for its AI tools and competitor insights and complaints about missing information and filtering (G2). Capterra lists it on the basis of 3 reviews (Capterra), too few to draw firm conclusions.
Review summaries agree on 2 points. Research-heavy teams get high value from it, and pricing feels steep for smaller organizations. Reviewers also describe coverage as strong for well-known companies and thinner for smaller ones (ZoomInfo). If your targets are small private companies, test the platform on your own list during the trial.
Is CB Insights worth it for a small fund or team?
For a corporate strategy or innovation team that tracks emerging technologies across dozens of markets, CB Insights and its market maps are built for that job. For a small fund that mainly needs company facts and funding history on a short target list, the entry tier costs about 50 times Crunchbase Pro's first-year price.
The middle path is to split the job. Use a cheaper database for funding facts, primary filings for verification and a paid trend tool only if trend work is daily. Our guide on how to research a private company sets out the steps with free records.
When should you keep CB Insights?
Keep CB Insights if your team produces technology trend reports, builds market maps for leadership or relies on its scoring to rank large sets of startups. Those are the jobs its higher tiers are designed for, and the cheaper tools in the table above are built for company lookups rather than curated market research. If 5 or more people use it every week, the cost per seat falls toward the CostBench estimates for extra seats.
Reconsider if only 1 or 2 people log in, if you mostly look up single companies or if your targets are smaller private companies that its reviewers say are covered less well.
Where does Tamarly Intelligence fit?
Tamarly Intelligence is Tamarly's research platform on companies, funds, countries and markets, built from official filings and open data. Every figure links to the filing or record it came from, and when Tamarly does not cover a company it says so. It covers 19,910 company pages, 22 sectors and 200 Tamarly Research reports, built from free and open sources such as SEC EDGAR, UK Companies House and GLEIF.
It is a different product from CB Insights. Tamarly has no expert-call transcripts, no Excel data feed and no investor names on private rounds. Its Predictive Insights give scenario cards with a likelihood band, drivers, evidence against and tripwires, and Ask the Brain answers plain-language questions with a numbered source on every sentence. Level 3 costs $399 a month after a 7-day trial that needs no card.

Frequently asked questions
Does CB Insights offer a free trial?
Capterra's listing shows a free trial for CB Insights (Capterra). Ask which features and datasets the trial includes, since higher-tier features such as Mosaic scores may not be part of it.
How much is an extra CB Insights seat?
CostBench estimates $7,000 to $12,000 a year for each additional seat in 2026 (CostBench). CB Insights does not publish seat prices, so the real figure depends on your contract.
Is CB Insights cheaper than PitchBook?
Usually not. 2026 estimates put CB Insights at about $29,800 to $100,000 a year (CostBench) and PitchBook at $12,000 to $70,000 a year (VC Beast). Both are quote-based, so compare written quotes for the same number of seats.
