What are the best Tracxn alternatives in 2026?
The best Tracxn alternative depends on what you use it for. Tracxn is reported at about $1,500 a year in 2026 (VCBacked). Crunchbase Pro is cheaper for broad startup lookups, Dealroom suits European ecosystem work, PitchBook adds fund and deal depth at a far higher price, and SEC EDGAR gives the primary US filings for free.
Why do investors look for Tracxn alternatives?
Price and data freshness come up most. Capterra lists Tracxn from $500 a month, usage-based, with a free trial (Capterra), while VC Beast lists a Starter plan from $999 a year and notes a dated interface and US deal data that lags PitchBook by weeks (VC Beast). The spread between those figures is itself a reason buyers compare: Tracxn does not publish a price list.
Review volume is thin. G2's comparison page shows Tracxn at 4.4 out of 5 from 20 reviews (G2, October 2026), too few for firm conclusions. Reviewers on TrustRadius mention price more than any other drawback, with some comparing it unfavourably to Dealroom on cost (TrustRadius).
Which Tracxn alternatives do investors use?
The 6 options below cover the main reasons to switch. Many teams pair a discovery database with a source they can verify.
1. Crunchbase
Crunchbase is the low-cost option for broad startup and funding lookups. Crunchbase Pro is reported at about $588 a year (VCBacked). G2 reviewers praise its ease of use but raise missing and outdated information (G2). Best for solo investors and founders tracking competitors. See our Crunchbase alternatives guide.
2. Dealroom
Dealroom offers free public startup profiles and custom paid plans (VCBacked). BounceWatch estimates paid access at $500 to $1,500 or more a month, depending on seats and exports (BounceWatch). Best for European startup and ecosystem mapping.
3. PitchBook
PitchBook is the deep option for VC, PE and M&A work, with fund-level and deal-term data. 2026 buyer guides report $12,000 to $70,000 a year, quote-based (VC Beast). Best for funds that use deal terms, benchmarks and LP data every week. See our PitchBook cost guide.
4. CB Insights
CB Insights combines a company database with market maps and technology research. A pricing aggregator put its plans at about $29,800 to $100,000 a year in March 2026 (CostBench). Best for corporate strategy teams tracking technology markets.
5. SEC EDGAR and Companies House
The official registers are free. For US startups, a Form D shows the amount sold, the exemption and the date of first sale, and it must be filed within 15 days after the first sale (17 CFR 230.503). UK Companies House shows directors, owners and filed accounts. Neither gives valuations or investor names, and both take time to search. Best for verifying a round or an owner you saw in a database. Our list of free private company research tools covers more.
6. Tamarly Intelligence
Tamarly Intelligence is Tamarly's research platform on companies, funds, countries and markets, built from official filings and open data. Its Venture workflow reads every new Form D from operating companies, leaves out funds and real estate, and opens on raises of $15 million or less, with first raises on file first. Every figure links to the filing or record it came from. Level 2 is $145 a month and Level 3 $399 a month, after a 7-day free trial. Best for investors who want each figure traced to its source.

When should you keep Tracxn?
Keep Tracxn if you source by sector and theme. Capterra describes coverage of more than 5 million companies across more than 3,000 sector categories in over 50 geographies (Capterra), and that taxonomy is what thesis-led analysts use it for. It is also one of the cheaper paid databases: even at the reported $1,500 a year, it costs a fraction of PitchBook. Guides that compare startup databases also point to its coverage of emerging markets (VCBacked, Tracxn alternatives).
Reconsider if most of your targets are US companies where you need the latest rounds, or if you spend time re-checking records before using them. In that case, add a primary source rather than a second database.
Where does Tamarly Intelligence fit?
Tamarly Intelligence links every figure to the filing or record it came from, and when it does not cover a company it says so. Each company in the Venture workflow has its Form D history rebuilt into rounds and its US patents. On Level 2 and above you can have Tamarly research a company from your portfolio and build a sourced profile of it. Coverage includes 19,910 company pages and 22 sectors.
Tamarly does not show investor names on private rounds, contact data or an Excel data feed, and it does not replace Tracxn's sector feeds outside its own 22 sectors. Many readers keep a database for discovery and use Tamarly to check what the filings say. For a method, see how to find startups raising money.

Frequently asked questions
How much does Tracxn cost?
Tracxn does not publish a price list. Third parties report about $1,500 a year (VCBacked), a Starter plan from $999 a year (VC Beast) and a starting price of $500 a month, usage-based (Capterra). Ask Tracxn for a quote for your seats and exports.
Is Tracxn better than Crunchbase?
They suit different work. Tracxn organises companies into sector feeds for thesis-led sourcing; Crunchbase is cheaper, at about $588 a year for Pro (VCBacked), and suits quick, broad lookups. Test both on 10 companies from your own pipeline before you choose.
Is there a free alternative to Tracxn?
Partly. Dealroom shows free public profiles (VCBacked), and SEC EDGAR and UK Companies House are free official sources. They cost time instead of money, because you search one company at a time; see how to read a Form D filing.
